Invasion of the Americanâ ts
January 6th, 2009Last week a government employee being paid by the taxpayers showed an attitude that has become prevalent in America. Upset at possibly being assigned to Iraq and actually doing his job, State Department employee Jack Croddy became irate. Ranting about the dangers and how he had a family and whining about who would take care of his children if he were killed, Mr. Croddy displayed the prime trait of the Americanâ ts.
Heâ s an Americanâ t because the job of the State Department is diplomacy which means going to foreign countries some of which are not great Republics like the United Sates. Sometimes, you actually do have to get out from behind your cushy desk and do your job. Perish the thought right?
And what is Mr. Croddy so upset about anyway? We have been told for years that only diplomacy can solve the problems caused by the evil war mongering of the vast neo-con cabal lead by George Bush havenâ t we? But when it comes time for some diplomats to actually put up or shut up they do neither. Instead they complain loudly.
Hereâ s an idea which may never have crossed Mr. Croddyâ s mind. If you donâ t want to do your nice, fat government job then quit and head out into the real world where the rest of us live. Does such a thought make you quake? Does losing that nice paycheck granted to you by the taxpayers make your palms sweat as you might actually have to compete and earn a living?
The Americanâ ts are, unfortunately, everywhere. They Americanâ t do this. They Americanâ t do that. Generally speaking whenever they have to do something that might inconvenience them in the slightest they simply Americanâ t or Ameriwonâ t do it.
Itâ s a symptom of a disease that has ravaged America since the time of the Raw Deal and Franklin D. Roosevelt. The Americanâ ts couldnâ t or just simply wouldnâ t cope with the curveballs that life often throws at everyone. So the Americanâ ts turned to government. And the government gleefully stepped right in.
When the Americanâ ts wouldnâ t plan for their own retirement, Social Security was instituted. The Americans were punished and forced to pay taxes to cover the Americanâ ts rear ends.
When the Americanâ ts wouldnâ t save for the future and the inevitable increase in medical costs that come with age, Medicare was created. The Americans once again picked up the tab.
When the Americanâ ts were down on their luck and struggling as we all do at times, they were greeted with wonderfully contrived entitlements like Welfare. And once again, you guessed it, the Americans got the bill.
When the Americanâ ts who operated businesses hit hard times or faced competition they didnâ t like or know how to cope with the nanny state was there drooling over the opportunity. From paying farmers not to farm to subsidizing the cost of milk, the quickly dwindling population of Americans was coerced to pay for all that too.
And this is just the tip of the iceberg. In 2007 the Americanâ ts conservatively received just over sixty cents of every dollar the Americans send to Washington â or elseâ . And over the years since the Americanâ ts invaded, many of these Americanâ ts have also moved into roles where they can administer this money as well. Itâ s a pretty sweet gig. That is, when you donâ t have to earn your daily bread by actually working. Right Mr. Croddy?
Today the Americanâ ts are even bolder than their ancestors and as is typical of the Americanâ ts they have continually found more and more things that they simply canâ t do.
Pay for their medical bills? They Americanâ t possibly do that. So pay up Americans and cover the cost of their health insurance.
Feed their children? Perish the thought! They Americanâ t be bothered! So open up your wallets Americans and pour money into school lunch programs.
Watch what they eat? Heck no! Not the Americanâ ts! So theyâ ll have government pass laws about what can and cannot be in the food they are consuming enforced by taxpayer dollars from the Americans of course.
Come to the United States legally? What are you? Some kind of vile NAZI for even suggesting that? They Americanâ t be asked to wait in line and go through the process. So you Americans had better just get used to the fact that they are here to stay. Oh, and while weâ re at it, you have to pay for subsidizing their college tuition.
It is remarkable when someone like French President Nicolas Sarkozy gets it more right than the vast number of people living in the United States. Addressing Congress, he correctly said of our past, â America did not tell the millions of men and women who came from every country in the world and who - with their hands, their intelligence and their heart - built the greatest nation in the world, â Come, and everything will be given to you.â She said: â Come, and the only limits to what youll be able to achieve will be your own courage and your own talent.â â He then went even further stating, â Here, both the humblest and most illustrious citizens alike know that nothing is owed to them and that everything has to be earned. Thatâ s what constitutes the moral value of America.â
Bravo Mr. Sarkozy. Bravo. You might just make a better American than many of our own citizens.
One can only wonder what will be the next demand for the Americanâ ts. And one can only wonder how much longer the Americans will be able or willing to support them. There arenâ t two Americas as some have suggested. But there are two types of people living in the United States. There are the Americans and then there are the Americanâ ts.
Which one are you?
